Welcome to Ledger.com/Start®, the official hub for downloading and setting up Ledger Live—your secure gateway to managing cryptocurrency with Ledger hardware wallets. This guide walks you through the essential steps to get up and running in about five minutes.

1. Visit the Start Page

  • Open your web browser and navigate to https://www.ledger.com/Start.
  • Confirm you see the secure padlock icon 🔒 and the “www.ledger.com” domain.
  • Bookmark the page for direct access whenever you need an update or quick reference.

2. Select Your Platform

Ledger Live is available on multiple platforms. The start page will usually detect your operating system automatically, but you can also choose manually:

  • Windows (64‑bit & 32‑bit)
  • macOS (Intel & Apple Silicon)
  • Linux (AppImage, DEB, RPM)
  • Android (Google Play)
  • iOS (App Store)

Click the appropriate Download or Get button to begin.

3. Install Ledger Live

Desktop Installation

  1. Locate the downloaded installer file in your Downloads folder.
  2. Run the installer and follow on‑screen instructions.
  3. Once installation completes, open the Ledger Live application.

Mobile Installation

  1. Open Google Play or App Store on your smartphone.
  2. Search for Ledger Live and tap Install or Get.
  3. Launch the app from your home screen.

4. Launch and Begin

  1. Open Ledger Live and click Get Started.
  2. Choose your Ledger device model:
  • Nano S
  • Nano S Plus
  • Nano X
  1. Decide between:
  • Initialize as new device
  • Restore from recovery phrase
  1. Complete the Genuine Check to ensure your device is authentic.
  2. (Optional) Set an app‑level password to lock Ledger Live on your computer or phone.

5. Initialize or Restore Your Ledger Device

Initializing a New Device

  • Connect your Ledger via USB (or Bluetooth for Nano X).
  • Choose a secure PIN code on the device.
  • Write down your 24‑word recovery phrase on the provided card.
  • Confirm your recovery phrase by selecting words on the device screen.

Restoring from Recovery Phrase

  • Enter your full 24‑word phrase using the device’s buttons.
  • Set a new PIN code once the phrase is accepted.
  • Complete any on‑screen confirmations.

6. Add Cryptocurrency Accounts

  1. In Ledger Live, go to the Accounts tab.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Select a cryptocurrency (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).
  4. Install the matching app on your Ledger device when prompted.
  5. Confirm the installation on the device.

Repeat for each asset you wish to manage. You can organize, rename, and archive accounts at any time.

7. Send and Receive Crypto

  • Receive: Select an account, click Receive, and verify the address on your device. Share this address with your sender.
  • Send: Click Send, enter the recipient’s address and amount, then confirm on your Ledger device to broadcast the transaction.

8. Security Best Practices

  • Never share your 24‑word recovery phrase.
  • Download Ledger Live only from Ledger.com/Start®.
  • Verify the genuine check every time you connect your device.
  • Keep device firmware and app versions up to date.
  • Store your recovery phrase offline in a secure location.
